Its purpose is to provide living facilities for retired men, women and couples of all denominations and ethnic backgrounds who are 62 years of age or over and in good health. The board of directors is also non-denominational and is composed of interested individuals from the various churches. With a maximum occupancy at 65 persons, the manor is usually filled to capacity. Residents range from 62 to 95 years old, and over 80 percent are female. Approximately 90 percent of the residents are from Wyoming or adjoining states, but some are from as far away as Florida and Texas. The facilities at Rocky Mountain Manor feature a complete laundry, beauty shop, sewing room, a library with over 3,000 volumes, a recreation room with billiard tables and a dining room. Books published in large print editions are available on an inter-library loan program from Cheyenne. Each resident is required to eat the noon meal in the manor dining room, but other meals may be prepared in the apartment. A computerized external security system has been installed for the safety of residents. This contemporary three-story brick structure is the only building located on the well kept, fully landscaped block. Some units have private balconies overlooking the spacious grounds. Although there are no doctors or nurses on duty, an electric alarm system connects each unit with the front office in case of emergencies. |
